Gin Blossom

SO – last night we went and explored our local liquor store…they have so many local varieties of everything! Two bottles of Gin in particular caught our eye. One is from Oregon, the other from Denver – and they sound like heaven. SO – Maryland/Tennessee friends – come visit us so we have an excuse to spend $35 on a bottle! The one we want to try most is called Old Tom

This Old Tom Gin is a historically accurate revival of the predominant Gin in fashion during the mid 1800’s and the golden age of American cocktails…Its subtle maltiness is the result of using a base wort of malted barley, combined with an infusion of botanicals in high proof corn spirits.

The next one is Leopolds – it’s hand bottled and hand labeled – made with Orris Root, Cardamon, Coriander, and hand-zested Valencia Oranges and Pummelos, carefully extracting the best aromas that these botanicals have to offer. The result is a softer, brighter, and more approachable spirit.

We may just have to try our hand at making some ourselves…

OH – and not only was I carded but am officially scanned into the Idaho system – it was a bit awkward.
